"Würzburg Plays in the Highest League"
Christina Rau visits DAHW
The Federal Chancellor‘s representative for partnership initiatives for the flood relief in South-East Asia, Christina Rau, visited the Würzburg flood relief „A future for the fishermen“ and met DAHW President Alois Pöschmann and Würzburg‘s Lord Mayoress Pia Beckmann.
„Just the way the Würzburg project is set-up means that it is a player in the top league“, Rau was full of praise for DAHWs commitment and the other project partners in South India. This praise is something for which we can take great pride. An incredible 1300 relief offers were received at Frau Rau‘s coordination office following the tsunami.
The Würzburg flood relief also did well with regard to donations received with 253,000 euros. Only a few towns raised more than 300,000 euros according to Rau.
Christina Rau is very familiar with DAHWs work. Her husband, the late Johannes Rau, had visited a project in Tanzania as the President of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2004. She had accompanied him back then.
Her entry in the DAHW guest book in Würzburg is: „I already knew DAHW well. Therefore I am very happy to be able to get to know the headquarters today.“
